With winter weather just around the corner and the cold weather upon us, you’re probably finding that it’s time to turn on the heat in your home. For many, this can lead to a spike in their energy costs.
Here are some tips from familyhandyman.com to help you keep your home warm without breaking the bank this winter:

  • If you have hardwood or tile flooring in your home, you know that it can shock your toes when you wake up in the morning. So, place rugs on these areas to provide extra warmth for those little piggies.
  • For rooms that get natural sunlight during the day, open up your blinds and curtains to let the light in and warm your home. When the sun goes down, close the blinds and curtains back up in order to keep all the warm air in the home at night.
  • Once you are done using the oven, turn it off, but leave the door open so that the leftover heat can circulate and warm your home. However, don’t do this if you have children or pets who can reach the stove.
  • Most ceiling fans have the option to rotate clockwise and counterclockwise. During the winter, turn the fans to spin clockwise so that it pushes the warm air down towards you.
